THE KwaZulu-Natal junior swimming championships were held at King’s Park swimming pool in Durban earlier this month.
Blue Ocean Aquatics had four swimmers competing on day one and six on day two.
The champs were for swimmers aged 12 and under who swim Level 1, 2 and 3.
Heats were swum in the mornings and the top 10 swimmers from each event and age group swam finals in the afternoon.
Janine Oosthuizen (12) entered four events and improved her times in all of them. She finished in the top 20 in all four events.
Michelle Kretzschmar (12) swam three events on the Sunday and made the finals for the 100m backstroke and ended 10th overall.
Londi Busse (12) swam four events each day with good time improvements. She also made the finals for 50m backstroke on Saturday and won a bronze medal in the finals that afternoon. She made the finals for 100m backstroke on Sunday and ended ninth overall.
Rudi Steyn (12) swam three events each day and improved all his times.
Ava-Mae Lilje (11) swam three events each day and made great time improvements. She also made a level 2 qualifying time for her 50m freestyle race.
Carla Kretschmar (10) swam three events and made the final for 100m backstroke and ended 10th overall.
