Radio control car racers produce some surprises
The club hopes to retain its position at the top of the log.
BANANA County Radio Control Racing Club is very proud of three members who took part in the recent South African Championships in Durban for the first time for 1/10 Electric On-Road RC Racing. Shane Kok excelled himself in 21.5T Touring Class, where he qualified second after three qualifying rounds and won both his finals to take a first in the A-Final. The club is very proud of his result as it’s a new class he has entered. In 1/12 Pan Class he finished in fourth place where he was a threat to the leaders all the time.
Tristan Baxter (16) raced to a sixth place in the A-Final for 21.5T Touring Class and a third in B-Final for 17.5T Touring Class. His dad Sean, with only a few months of racing experience, finished a well-deserved eighth in 23.5T in A-Final and fourth in the 21.5T B-Final.
The club will be hosting the KwaZulu-Natal Championships at Douglas Mitchell Sports Club on October 5 and 6. Racing will start at 1pm on Saturday with the first two rounds of qualifying and Sunday there will be racing from 8am for the last round of qualifying and the finals. Banana County is leading on the log points and it is hoped that home advantage will do the trick to keep it there. Some 100 entries are expected and members are eagerly anticipating the champs. Spectators are welcome.
