AT last, Umtentweni Tennis Club has managed to fill all six courts, with a fabulous turnout of members and visitors last Saturday.
Shauna Hudson, Brett Kjonstad, Sven Klusener and his son, Ross, swelled our numbers. Justin Hinchliff laid on a lovely array of eats topped off with delicious three-flavoured ice cream – a welcome treat on such a hot day.
The colder weather on Wednesday had only the braver members out and three courts were in action all afternoon. The ‘vino’ afterwards warmed the cockles of most players’ hearts.
Visitors are reminded that social days are Wednesdays and Saturdays starting at about 1.45pm and continuing till light (or exhaustion!) stops play.
Beginners should contact coach, Jimmy Parsons, at 082 4116904 for lessons as social days cater for more advanced players.
Women play on Tuesday and Friday mornings from about 7am till 9.30am – before it gets too hot.
Members were horrified to hear that Murray Ross’s car had been stolen from the country club and hope that it will be recovered soon.
Lynne Rorich and Pam Grobler have both been down to Cape Town to spend time with their families and it’s hoped that they have had good times there.
