SOUTHPORT

THE Dr Daryl D’Arcy men’s trips was won by Bez Bezuidenhout, Eddie Milne and Arthur Seager. Dennis Graham, Eric Grierson and Johnny Meyer were second and Peter Browning, John Payne and Mike Finlay third. The 50/50 was won by Peter Browning.

Geoff Kelleher, Jane Massam and Cosmos Gumede won the Ian Gordon mixed trips played on Sunday. Stuart Chapple, Jenny Prescott and Pam Schutte were runners-up followed by Derek Celliers with Richard and Kitty Cochman. The 50/50 was won by Sheugnet Pretorius.

MARGATE BC

SHEENA Absalom and Vicki de Beer won the Manaba Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 played on Friday on a score of 4+15. Ina Malan and Trixi Smith were runners-up on 4+14 and the session was won by Lenie Geyer and Yvonne Bausek on 2+17. Betty Bolton, Eileen Abel and Amelia Nel won the Uvongo Spar vouchers.

The next sponsored competitions are the Mooirivier Brokers’ mixed 2-4-2 this Friday, September 27 and the Manaba Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 on Friday, October 11. Contact Dave Barber (083 4503273) or Ellen Cawker (082 8019339) respectively.

Members interested in playing in the KBA men’s and women’s sevens league are requested to put their names on the lists on the notice board.

RIVERSIDE

EDDIE Louw, Chummy Smith and Butch Bruce won the Airprof Engineering men’s trips with 4+13. Dave Barber, Trevor Heywood and John Lauch were runners-up with 2+10. First session winners were Trevor Anderson, Brian Muir and Syd Ackermann with 2+10 and Mike and Malcolm Milne with Phil Lotter won the second session with 2+8.

Mark Smith was the winner of the 50/50 board but the accumulator prize will be carried over to the next social evening on Friday, October 4 as the winner was not present.

Chrissie Chancellor and team were the winners of the quiz held at the social evening.

The next sponsored competitions will be Fruit and Veg City mixed 2-4-2 this Friday, September 27 and Hopden’s Spar open trips on Wednesday, October 9.

There will be an open fun day followed by a bring and braai on Saturday, October 12. Please bring flat shoes and a hat. Bowls will be provided. Anyone interested should phone Brian Muir at 039 3151736 before Thursday, October 10.

MARGATE CC

ANNETTE Payne, Betty Bolton and Ann Waugh were the winners of the Hopden’s Kwikspar women’s trips on 4+22. Runners-up on 4+8 were Vi Pells, Sandra Singleton and Pam Cole-Cook and the session winners were Barbara Gradwell, Amorie Schoeler and Jennie Rennie. Eula Greer won the 50/50 draw.

The annual AGM drawn trips played last Saturday was won by Kobie Stander, Eileen Lloyd and Chris Abram.

The Allan Uzzell Upholstery men’s trips will be played on Tuesday, October 1 and The Hair Shoppe women’s fours on Friday, October 4.

The Margate Country Club AGM will be held on Wednesday, October 23 at 6pm. All club members are encouraged to attend this important meeting.

UMTENTWENI

ERIC Grierson, Derick and Jean Celliers with Isabel Prenger won the John Dory’s mixed fours with a score of 4+19.. Steve Doran, Chris Jacobs, Astrid Jackson and Nellie Davies were runners-up on 4+1 and. Isobel Kilian, Bill and Linda Hobbs with Dumisani Madlala won the session prize on 2+19.

The next competition will be the South Coast Herald men’s pairs on Tuesday, October 1. Harbour View SuperSpar (in house) mixed 2-4-2 will follow on Friday 4th.

VILLAGE

CARL Volker and Hazel Hosken won the Halfway Toyota / Highland Fryer mixed 2-4-2 followed by John Sutton and Betty Bolton. Sessions went to Ina and Corrie Malan and to Roy Baker and Vicki de Beer on a countout from Ivan Hosken and Mary Bond. Bob Nelson won the 50/50.

Rennie Geyer and Ron Canning won the Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 followed by Rassie Erasmus and Gary Hess. Sessions went to Ivan Hosken and Brian Williams and to Bill Brown and Barry Herbert. Dave Garland won the whisky.

The next competitions to be held are Hopden’s Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 on Monday, October 7 followed by Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips on Tuesday 8th and Hibiscus Insurance Brokers’ mixed trips on Thursday 10th. If you wish to enter any of these competitions contact Hazel at 039 3125277.

The Hyundai drawn mixed trips was won by Brian Hughes, Dawn Ingle and George Ball followed by Henry Fick, Nancy Hughes and Kathy Hall. The drawn prizes went to Chris Allen, Rosalie Bloom and Charlotte van Niekerk. Welcome back to Brian and Nancy.

Dave will be serving another ‘breakfast’ on Sunday, October 13 so please put your names on the list for catering purposes. This will be followed by tabs in fun bowls in mufti for those who wish to play.

MUNSTER

IRENE Filmer is congratulated on being selected for KBA.’s president’s team.

The green is closed for rejuvenation and thanks go to green keeper Herman Botha ably assisted by Tommie Dry and other volunteers for the sterling work being done.

Although there is no bowls at the moment, social activities continue: Friday, September 27 – 25 Club dinner. Please note that the dress code is smart. Friday, October 4 – bingo and supper evening at 5.30pm for 6pm. All welcome to come along and stand a chance of winning wonderful prizes. Friday, October 8 – prize-giving dinner. All prize winners must be in full club uniform.

SOUTHBROOM

THE green is still closed but is coming on well.

Some of the committee and members are hard at work repainting the inside of the clubhouse. Anyone who feels the urge to take up a paintbrush and come and help will be most welcome.

During one of our social Sundays, Hans Wijtman organised a spider competition to raise funds for the Blind Bowlers Association. The great news is that the South African team won the international competition. Well done guys.

BANNERS REST

DENISE Brass and Myra Doubell won The Webb Restaurant women’s pairs played on Wednesday, September 18. Anjie Gold and Rita Zietsman were runners-up and the second session was won by Pat Miller and Anne Wells. Anjie Gold won the 50/50 board.

The Chill Grill (previously Peg and Punter) mixed trips played on Thursday, September 19 was won by Dave Hume, Maureen La Grange and Ally Weir. Barry Payn, Russ Hankey and Vi Pells were runners-up and the second session went to Graham and Anjie Gold and Rina Fourie. Once again, Anjie Gold took the 50/50 board.

The next sponsored competition will be the SuperSpar Port Edward mixed trips on Thursday, September 26, with thanks to catering by Kotie Snyman.

THE BELL

FELICITY van Rensburg and John Lowe won the Fruit and Veg City 2-4-2. Luke Pohl and Johannie Theron were runners-up and the session prize went to Gary le Brasse and Val Boshoff.

As only one green will be available from October 14 the next Fruit and Veg City will be changed to a mixed fours on a draw basis. Names entered as skip and partner will be kept together. If you do not wish to play in this format. please delete your name from the list. This will only be for the period of closure of the green.

The Hibiscus Insurance mixed trips will be played today, Friday, September 27. Teams are on the board.

HIBBERDENE

DENNIS Lewis, Joey Venter and Sheryl Knight won the mixed trips sponsored by Jonno’s at Ifafa Beach and the Cutting Edge last Friday. Jan Venter, John Hoyer and Judy Aiston were runners-up and the session prize went to Fay Patterson, Jill Whitmore and Jackie Marais.

Next Friday afternoon there will be drawn trips.

Prize-giving will be taking place on Friday, October 4. Members are requested to bring a plate of eats.
