Equestrian community in harness
A horse riding clinic was held at Haven Manor Equestrian Centre in Margate last Saturday.
LOCAL riders learnt some of the tricks of the trade from Jodi Pieters, a world-class showjumping rider, when she visited Haven Manor Equestrian Centre in Margate last Saturday.
Jodi provided scheduled lessons throughout the day. A total of 16 riders ended up taking part in the lessons.
Jodi is well-known in South Africa and abroad. She was the winner of the 2011 South African show jumping championships and in 2012, the winner of the Shongweni world cup qualifier.
The event was hosted by the Faddy family. Cheryse Faddy was very enthusiastic about rallying the equestrian community of the South Coast.
“There was a great turnout and it was wonderful to see the South Coast uniting in support of Jodi’s visit,” she said.
Cheryse was adamant that events such as these should be more frequent in order to foster talent for competitive riding and to build relationships between people who share a common interest.
Spectators enjoyed listening to what Jodi had to say over the sound system while enjoying some wors rolls and drinks.
“Thank you to everyone who came to support the day. We are hoping to host another clinic with Jodi at the beginning of March next year, hope to see you all there,” said Cheryse.
