THE Port Shepstone Country Club U10 cricket team travelled to Verulam to play Phoenix recently. It rained on the way there, but the sun was shining in Verulam and a superb day of cricket followed. The team narrowly lost, by just nine runs, with Bruce Bormann top scoring with 16 runs. Reece Murray made 14 runs and Jaco Victor 10 runs. Kelli Ashington picked up three wickets.
There are two matches already scheduled for the youngsters in January next year. The U13 and U11 teams take on Chatsworth Sporting in Chatsworth this weekend. The junior club will also be holding its first (of many to come) annual prize-giving and year-end function on November 30. The theme is ‘Night of the Stars’ and it is going to be a very special evening.
