JUDGING by the many awards handed out, rugby is alive and well and thriving on the South Coast.
The Rugga Skills Rugby Academy held its annual prize-giving at Santana Holiday Apartments in Margate last Saturday.
It was a well-attended ceremony with many proud parents there to support the young players and recognise their achievements both on and off the playing fields.
The academy prides itself on developing and nurturing the skills of young rugby players. “We strive to develop young players who have the passion for the game. As an academy we coach our players through from acquiring basic to advanced skills. We focus on physical, motor skills and all the safety aspects,” said Rikus Goosen, the founder of Rugga Skills Rugby Academy.
He added the players were not only taught how to play rugby but to also learn to have discipline and to show respect.
“Our skills programme not only focuses on basic principles, it also aims to grow the game at grass roots level to provide everyone with the opportunity of learning more about the wonderful sport,” he concluded.
