Teamwork makes the dream work

The club rounded things off in style last week.

SOUTH Coast Striders had a brilliant day at the Illovo Christmas 15km Challenge in Westville, winning first place in the mini bus competition.

This competition is to see who is the fastest team out of all the clubs contending. Buses are made up of a minimum of 10 runners, and they have to run together and finish within 30 seconds of each other.

The Striders ran in holding hands, making others very proud of them. They were streaks ahead of any other club. It was victory at last as in the last two years the club has lost out to Nedbank Running Club.

The runners worked hard this year and were led to victory by bus drivers, Michael Mzobe and Eric Ndovela.

Holidaymakers are welcome to join the locals for time trials at the club on Wednesday evenings. Runners start at 5.30pm with walkers starting at 5.15pm.

The clubhouse will be closed on December 25 and January 1.

In other exciting news, the club will be hosting a full marathon on June 29 next year.

The club held its prize-giving at St Michaels Sands Hotel last weekend. Thanks to Mary Morley and her helpers Ronel Viljoen and Ellene Barbadimos for the slick organisation.
