CINDY McMurtry, Daphne Hounsell and Una van Eeden won the Harbour View SuperSpar women’s trips. Jane Massam, Ann Hunkin and Jaxx Marais were runners-up and the session prize went to Felicity van Rensburg, Margie Randall and Sheenagh Dempster.
Dr Daryl D’Arcy sponsored men’s trips will be played on Thursday, December 19 in the afternoon.

VILLAGE
SADLY Jeanette Cubbin died last week – our sincere condolences go to Rob and his family.
The winners of the Christmas hampers drawn last Saturday were Barry Munro, Marie Momple, Ted Morley, Pat Landman, Chris Haslam, Alan Tyers, Lionel Oldacre and Cathy Oldacre plus there were several lucky draw prizes.
The greens are closed for the annual upgrade and helpers would be welcomed. The club will still be open on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays between 4 pm and 6 pm so still come and have a drink and catch up with your friends.
The next bring and braai will be held on Friday, December 20. All welcome.

DAVE Hume with Mike and Sandy Davis won the 7th Heaven open trips played on December 3. Joe Ashworth, John Keppler and Ann McAllister were runners-up and the session went to George and Elbie Snyman with Leoni Booth.
The Warwick Wealth open day will take place this Saturday, December 14 at 1.30pm. Non bowlers will be made most welcome. Bowls will be supplied. PORT SHEPSTONE
DAPHNE Sapsford, Barbara Gradwell, Marie Coetzer and Mada Lindeque won the South Coast Herald women’s fours played on Thursday, December 5. Jenny Rawlins, Gill Thiele, Sheenagh Dempster and Anne Payn were runners-up.
The MTN ‘Bowlers play Cricket’ competition played last Sunday was won by the ‘Shad Busters’ team comprising Mark Bischoff, Kevin Lancaster, Murray Ross and Steve O’Moore. The ‘Runaway Comebacks’ team made up of Eddie Fann, Denis Graham and Vivienne Hotshausen were runners-up. Individual top achievers were Phil Myburgh (master wicket taking bowler) and Steve O’Moore (master blaster with the most runs).
The breakfast roll will be held at the club on Monday, December 16 at 8.30am. With a glass of bubbly, tasty breakfast roll and live music by saxophonist, Lesley Lancaster, it promises to be a memorable morning. All welcome. Contact Gill Thiele at 082 5966949 for further information.
MARGATE CC
JENNY Rawlins, Marie Coetzer, Sheenagh Davison and Anne Payn won The Hair Shoppe women’s fours on 26+22. Runners-up on 21+11 were Kobie Stander, Marthie Pringle, Eula Greer and Winnie Hess. Gill Thiele won the 50/50 raffle.
The club also held the Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips and the winner of this event was the new team of Gary Hess, Ian Hutton and Dave Slippers on 4+14. Another ‘dark horse’ new team from Southbroom made up of Kevin Tod, Neville Holmes and Doug Campbell were the runners-up on 4+8. The session prize was won by Graham Dunlop, Dereck McKechnie and Brian Smalberger on 2+9. The 50/50 draw was won by Dieter Scholtz.
Last Saturday we also celebrated Dora Vosloo’s 70th birthday during the club’s fabulous Christmas lunch and the lucky birthday ‘girl’ went home with the ‘wheel of fortune’ prize. The monthly draw was won by Fred Deakin and second prize went to Clive Edmundson. Everyone who attended the lunch owes Jill Brent and Eula Greer a very special thank you for making this fun event such a great success.
The tabs attendance prize, donated by the Fowlers, was shared by Dora Vosloo, Kobie Stander and Jo Olivier.
As the only non KBA men’s fours competition on the South Coast, the club’s new event, sponsored by Engel & Volkers, is going to be very popular. Teams are starting to get organised but with a couple of slots still available, club skips must start recruiting without delay. With great prize money at stake, the competition will kick off soon after the greens reopen on January 17. To book your team, sms Martiens Olivier at 073 5050139.

ATHOL Robertson and Tys Pringle won the Margate Panelbeaters men’s 2-4-2 on 4+15 from runners-up Bill Brown and Rennie Geyer on 4+10. First session went to Len Sprong and Percy Legg on 2+8 and the second session went to Clive Edmundson and Mariens Olivier on 2+12.

Condolences are extended to Rob Cubbin, family and friends on the death of Jeanette. Jeanette bought many honours to MBC as well as the district and will be sorely missed.
Non bowlers are welcome to join in the ‘mufti’ bowls on Sunday mornings.

HIBBERDENE
AFTER a few moments silence for the late Nelson Mandela, 72 people sat down to the most delectable Christmas dinner. It was like eating at a ‘five star’ restaurant and many thanks to all who assisted in preparing the feast. Thanks also to Jan Venter for the music and to the hardworking bar staff.
The liquor hamper was won by John Mett, visiting from Middlesbrough in England and the handmade wall clock by Lionel France.
The mixed trips sponsored by Hibberdene Pharmacy will be played this Friday, December 13 at 2pm.
Everyone travelling in the next week or two is wished a safe journey.

Barry Turner and Sergio Ruperto won the men’s pairs played on December 6 sponsored by 7th Heaven Restaurant. Tommy Dry and Martiens Zietsman were runners-up and the second session went to Barry Payn and Leigh Warner. Tony Smith won the board.
