Rainy run well supported
The fun event was part of the Pink Drive breast cancer awareness initiative.
LOCAL runners braved the rain to take part in the recent Pink Drive charity fun run, held to promote breast cancer awareness.
In spite of the rather miserable weather there was a good turnout of runners and walkers, who had a choice of completing either a 5km or a 10km course, from Uvongo along Lilliecrona Boulevard to Manaba and back. The 10km runners completed two laps.
Winner of the 5km course was Joshua Morrison-Young, who ran it in 19 minutes and 30 seconds. Zimbabwean athlete Thando Maphosa completed the 10km course in first place in 34 minutes and 18 seconds. Jayne Munro was the first woman to complete the 5km route.
The overall winner, however, was the Pink Drive, with the successful run notching up plenty of awareness and some much-needed funds for a very worthy cause.
