A NEW committee, headed by Raj Naganna, heralds the start of a promising new year for Tweni Tennis Club. Congratulations to Raj on being elected chairman. Gavin Mellors is vice-chairman, Justin Hinchliff secretary and Isabeau le Roux treasurer. Maintenance falls to Mervyn Tarboton, match secretaries are Reel Fincham and Mary Wood, with Foxy Norton also a committee member.
Members thank the outgoing chairman, Grant Wood and his committee for their efforts during the past year and wish the incoming committee a happy and well-supported year in office. All members are reminded that any help they are able to offer will be greatly appreciated by the committee. Please remember to get your news in to scribe, Jean Marx, before Sunday evening each week.
Grant Wood is thanked for organising the braai after the AGM and also thanks to everyone who contributed salads – an amazing variety – which were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Gavin Mellors provided the eats for tea and washed up fantastically! Thanks, Gavin.
Heartiest congratulations go to Elena and Dave Whateley who became great grandparents on December 18 when their great granddaughter, Chané, was born. They must be one of the youngest great grandparent pairs on the coast!
It was good to see Colin Barker back home after his hip replacement op in Durban and only having to use one crutch to get around!
Members are distressed to hear of Reel Fincham’s nasty experience last week but are pleased that she has settled into John’s place where she and her two pooches feel much safer.
Jill Badenhorst’s grandson, Keegan, was a welcome visitor last Saturday and we hope to see him a few more times before he returns to Oz.
