WINNERS of the Mooirivier Brokers’ open 2-4-2 played last Friday were Denzil Massyn and Chris Abram on 4+18; runners-up were Tys and Marthie Pringle on 4+10. Session went to Ron Canning and Yvonne Bausek on 2+5.
MBC hosted the very successful midsummer mixed fours KBA fund-raiser over last weekend and thanks go to all the club members who worked hard to ensure the success of the tournament. All the prize winners are congratulated.
The next sponsored tournament is the Margate Panelbeaters’ men’s 2-4-2 on Friday morning, February 7 and the Fruit and Veg open trips on Friday afternoon (1.30pm) February 14. The monthly bingo evenings commence this Monday evening, February 3. Everyone welcome to come and enjoy a meal and an evening of fun.

There was a good turnout for Dave’s breakfast last Sunday. There will be a bring and braai next Friday, February 7; the next bingo will be on Tuesday 11th, when Russian hot dogs and boerewors rolls will be on sale – all welcome. There will be a spaghetti evening at the club on St Valentine’s Day, (14th) so be sure to get your tickets early.

ASTRID Jackson and Nellie Davies won the recent Abingdon Road Spar women’s 2-4-2 with a score of 4+19 from runners-up Sharolyn Dacey and Tina Barbour on 4+12. Denise Nel and Irene Harris won the session prize on 2+9.
The next event will be the South Coast Herald men’s pairs this Tuesday, February 4, followed by Harbour View SuperSpar in-house mixed 2-4-2 on Friday 7th.

AT the recent midsummer mixed fours Kobie Stander’s team achieved a very creditable sixth place with 57 points, only 9 points behind the winners of the competition. The team achieved a ‘perfect 8’ during the competition and also won the final round session prize.
Kobie’s other team members were Phil Myburgh, Dora Vosloo and Chris Abram.
Yvonne van Mentz has decided to change her coaching times to Saturday morning instead of Tuesday afternoon. This is to allow working people more of an opportunity to try the marvellous game of bowls. Please phone Yvonne at 073 6385430 to make arrangements. Also on Sunday morning, February 2, Margate Country Club is having an open day for all ages, so anyone can come and try golf and bowls. There will be members in attendance to assist with equipment required.

The Indulgence mixed trips was played on the 21st. Winners were Derrick Ott, Elbe Snyman and Frank Foley; runners-up Andreas van der Linde, John Keppler and Fransien van der Merwe. The session was won by Dave Banks, Pam Gilson and Mike Carter.
At the Just Hair mixed pairs on the 24th overall winners were Jokkie and Marianne van Buuren; with runners-up George and Elbe Snyman and session winners Myra and Tommy Doubell.

The women who embarked on a cruise to Mozambique seem to have had a good time. Cheryl Knight and her two daughters flew to Zanzibar beforehand so are suffering from jet – or is it boat – lag?
