THE Shelly Beach SuperSpar mixed trips last Tuesday was won by Dora Vosloo, Helen Proctor and Martiens Olivier on 4 + 18. Runners-up were Mike Berry, Eileen Lloyd and Fred Deakin on 4 + 7. Session prize went to Ian Hutton, Yvonne James and Bruce Coldwells with 2 + 6. Dora also won the 50/50 prize and the club’s monthly draw. The other monthly draw winner was Fred Deakin.
At the club’s open day last Sunday morning experienced players guided new or inexperienced bowlers in ‘mufti’. It proved a success, with approximately 12 new or inexperienced bowlers participating. All agreed that they will come back and do it again on Sunday, February 23. The competition was fun and very close, with new bowlers getting the vibe of a really good game. The morning ended with an excellent Sunday lunch. The competition was won by Martiens and Jo Olivier and new bowler, Ann Cheetham on a score of 47.

SOUTHPORT
WINNERS of the Dr Darryl D’Arcy sponsored men’s trips played on January 23 were Bez Bezuidenhout, Eddie Milne and Arthur Seager; runners-up Louw Vermeulen, Keiron Dacey and Steve O’Moore. Second session was won by Jacques Snyman, Jan Snyman and Dave Kunnuke. The in-house mixed pairs, sponsored by Fruit & Veg City, was won by Bob Macfarlane and Sandy Shepherd; runners-up were Bob Moroney and Val Bedecker; session prize was won by Brian Marriott and Jane Massam.
The in-house two-bowl trips will be played tomorrow, Friday, February 7 at 3pm. South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 will be played on the morning of Thursday, February 13.
Please note the green will not be available for tabs in on Saturday, February 22, owing to the KBA mixed pairs competition. There will be tabs in on Friday afternoon, February 21. KBA mixed pairs will also be played at the club on Sunday, February 23.

WINNERS of Executive mixed 2-4-2 were Alan Tyers and Denise Palframan, followed by Keith and Gill Thiele. Sessions went to Patrick Kirkbright and Joan Tracey and John Sutton and Betty Bolton. Bob Nelson won the 50/50.

KBA is planning a markers’ course for February 17 and is holding this year’s academy early in March – all bowlers wishing to improve their bowls should attend this course of four sessions.

Winners of the tabs in Fruit and Veg mixed trips were Alan Tyers, Bill Reed and Irma Smook followed by Nancy Hughes, Nora Hill and Brian King on a countout from Dirkie Pretorius, Ken Habben and Alex Reith.
There will be a bring and braai tomorrow (Friday) and the next bingo will be on Tuesday, February 11, when Russian hot dogs and boerewors rolls will be on sale – all welcome. Don’t forget the spaghetti evening next Friday, 14th – Valentine’s Day.

NO bowls competition results this week as rain closed the green. Thank you to 7th Heaven restaurant for the sponsorship and good use was made of the vouchers at our twilight bowls evening, held in heavy drizzle on Friday January 31. Lively discussion was heard around the braai fire and some raucous laughter at the dart boards. The club looks forward to holding a competition in the future and novices will have to actually hit the dart board to be in the running. There will be more practice sessions some with tuition and protective headgear

ALWAYS a great fun competition, the Tiago’s 2-4-2 last Friday was won by Chris Faber and Hilda Tod; second were Graham Fisher and Viv Date; third Kevin Tod and Trebla Lansdell; fourth John Saunders and Wynand Bezuidenhout.
The next competition will be the Fish on the Pond men’s trips on Tuesday, February 18.

IN the initial 2-4-2 game at Hibberdene, Danie Human and Hana Svoboda took first place. Runners-up were Gloria Gerrard and Lucas Fouche. Session prize was awarded to Malky McManus and Pauline Howle. This was sponsored by our longest-standing life member Mike Hoyer. Thank you.
The lucky draw was won by Jan and Helene Oosthuizen. The monthly 100 Club was won by Miriam Seager. The next competition is the Hibberdene SuperSpar nominated mixed trips tomorrow (Friday) at 2pm.
