Schools’ volleyball announced
The first schools' knockout tournament starts on March 8.
THE schools’ volleyball committee which is affiliated to Port Shepstone Volleyball Association has released its tournament schedule for 2014.
The volleyball committee chairman, Ivan Govender was re-elected. Other executive members unanimously re-elected were Rani Govender (secretary), Ranjini Govender (treasurer), Prenasen Naidoo (PRO), and Dennis Moodley (chief tournament director). Teddy Moodley and Johnny Rajoo will form part of the tournament organising committee.
The divisions for the 2014 season will be under 12 and under 14 in the primary school section, while the high school divisions will be under 16 and over 16.
All interested primary and secondary schools (new and currently affiliated schools) are welcome to enter all tournaments. The team entry fees will remain as R80 per team. Schools can enter as many teams as they wish providing that can afford the total entry fees.
The 2014 season promises to be quite exciting with three full school volleyball tournaments scheduled for the months of March, May and August this year. The president of the Port Shepstone Volleyball Association, Iks Naicker said with the (PSVA) being affiliated to KZN volleyball, local schools can now reap the benefits of coaching and development clinics as well as attain provincial and national sporting colours.
The first schools’ knockout tournament will be held at the Marburg Sports Complex on Saturday, March 8. The second tournament, May 17 and the final August 16.
The closing date for confirmation and submission for each tournament is a week before the tournament date. As all tournaments are pre-entry events, unfortunately no late entries will be accepted. Schools are urged to finalise their team entries for the first tournament by March 3. Team entries can be faxed to 039 6820861 / 039 685 7477 or 086 5611040.
