Volleyball bounces back

Everyone is invited to this family event.

VOLLEYBALL players are currently dusting off their pre-season rust in preparation for the season opening knockout tournament. The Neela Raman Memorial Cup starts at Marburg Sports Complex this Saturday, February 22. It is set to become a regular fixture on the volleyball calendar.

Defending champions, Falcons A, are hoping to continue their 2013 success, but will surely come up against other serious contenders this year. Teams and players are reminded that only registered players are eligible to play in the premier section of this tournament. Social teams, local businesses, other sporting bodies and religious organisations are urged to enter the social division. There are wonderful prizes up for grabs for both sections. If sufficient women’s teams register, a women’s section will also be introduced.

Members of the public and volleyball enthusiasts are welcome to set up braai areas, as this is a family event with the emphasis on socialising and enjoying the game of volleyball. Registration starts at 2pm, with the games starting at 3pm.
