Eddie takes silver at Masters
CONGRATULATIONS to Eddie Fann on winning silver at the recent senior men’s masters in Johannesburg.
The results for Kingfisher at the recent Quadrangular Tournament held in Pietermaritzburg were incorrectly reported last week.
The open men achieved their best for many years, winning their section with 10 points over Port Natal on eight. The senior men came third with six points, behind Port Natal on 13 points and Natal Inland on 9.5 points. The president’s (three points) and the ‘B’ sides (two points) came third and last in their sections respectively. The overall positions for the men was Port Natal first (41.5 points), Natal Inland (34.5 points), KZN Country (23 points) and Kingfisher (21 points).
The senior women’s side did well coming runners-up with eight points to Port Natal’s 10. The president’s side was just pipped by Port Natal by one bonus point – 10, 11 respectively. The women’s ‘B’ side and open side came third and fourth respectively.
The overall position for the Kingfisher women was runners-up on 27 points to Port Natal’s 44 points.
Last week’s report also omitted that Pam Cole-Cook was also invited to the Masters, in Johannesburg. Once again apologies for this omission.

THE women’s fours had to be cancelled because many of the bowlers were going to the KZN Quadrangular competition in Pietermaritzburg.
Last Saturday, members got together for a fun Valentine’s afternoon ‘on the perch’ format. Thanks go to Jill Brent, Eula Greer and Jo Olivier for the decor. All three matches ended up with exactly the same results – 53 versus 43. A ‘shoot-out’ was hurriedly organised to decide on a winner and runner-up. One member from each team would play one end and the winners of that would take home the prize. Bruce Coldwells got the shot, giving the first prize to the team of Yvonne van Mentz, Bruce Coldwells and Barbara Jackson.

WINNERS of the Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips were Denzil Massyn, Gary Hess and Ross Ferguson, followed by Bill Brown, Barry Herbert and Chris Abram. Sessions went to Ivan Hosken, Carl Volker and Alex Reith and to Ken Hills, Ali Mitchell and Doug Kent on a countout from Alan Tyers, Reg Sanders and Bill Parfitt. Don Fowler took home the whisky.
Winners of the Hibiscus Insurance Brokers were Rassie Erasmus, Gary Hess and Dora Vosloo on a countout from Alan Tyers, Ali Mitchell and Denise Palframan. Sessions went to Denzil Massyn, Chris and Di Abram and to Ina Malan with Dirkie Pretorius and Corrie Malan. Ivan Hosken won the 50/50.

A GREAT time was had by all on Valentine’s Day. The Viva Valentine competition was won by Phil Myburgh, Sheenagh Dempster and Kevin Lancaster, who each received a generous meal voucher from Something Nice. Runners-up were Brian Rawlins, Jimmy Holzhausen and Bernie Sinclair.
