Eddie trumps Ron in singles final
>
THE KBA singles finals for men and women were held at Scottburgh Bowling Club on Monday.
There were four categories, namely men and women open, and men and women seniors.
In the men’s open finals Eddie Fann from Port Shepstone Country Club played Ron Weddell from Riverside Sports Club and the result was a good win by Eddie.
In the men’s seniors the result was very close with Barry Delvin of Port Shepstone Country Club eventually coming away the winner, beating Eric Grierson, from Umtentweni.
All the women’s matches were very close and in the open Pam Cole-Cook came away eventual winner over Esta Wenzel. Both are from Margate BC.
The senior women also had a tight match and Tina Barbour, The Bell, just managed to beat Helen Turk from AMBC.
KBA thanked Scottburgh for hosting the finals and Scottburgh, Margate, Southbroom, Hibberdene and Riverside for hosting some of the section round robin matches.

MARGATE BC
THE next sponsored tournament is the Margate Panelbeaters’ men’s 2-4-2 this Friday, March 7.

On Thursday, March 13 there will be an ‘Expro Challenge’ (ex professional footballers) tabs-in at 1.30pm for 2pm.
This is going to be an afternoon and evening of fun with boerewors rolls after the game, entertainment that includes a comedian and live music so come along and enjoy the camaraderie.
Everyone welcome, including visitors from surrounding clubs where a small fee of R10 for green fees will be charged.
The monthly ‘quiz’ will be held on Wednesday, March 19.
Bring your friends, family and neighbours along for an evening of fun and camaraderie and a fish and chips supper.
There will be a ‘Green Hat’ day on March 15 to celebrate St Patrick’s Day on 17th.

Overall winners of the Indulgence mixed trips were Dan and Hazel Delaney and David Lindley; runners-up Piet Heunis, Rina Fourie and Cliff Moakes.
Second session: Albert van der Lith, Joey Anderson and Rick Harding. Leone Bloem won the board.

The business challenge, sponsored this month by Coastal Cellular and MTN, was won by Jarrod, Gavin and Belinda van Wyk representing Gavin’s Electrical.
Runners-up were Jane Massam, John Williams and John Block, representing Ola Ice Cream.

THE in-house pairs sponsored by Fruit & Veg City was won by Bob Moroney and Val Bedecker; second place went to Molly Williams and Bill Brooks and the session prize to Bob MacFarlane and Sandy Shepherd.
The club’s 2-bowl trips will be played tomorrow, Friday March 7 at 3pm.
The South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 will be played on Thursday morning, March 13.

WINNERS of the John and Molly Thomas mixed trips played on Wednesday, February 26 were Hannes du Plessis, Mary Warner and Pat Miller.
Runners-up were Maureen la Grange, Derrick Ott and Andreas van der Linde and second session was won by Graham and Anjie Gold with Albert van der Lith. The 50/50 board went to Estelle Carter.
The Dolphin men’s pairs played on Sunday, March 2 was won by Ray Martin and Derrick Ott. Runners-up were Andreas van der Linde and Steve Rennie and second session winners were Dave Hume and Leigh Warner.
The 50/50 board was won by Hannes du Plessis.
The next sponsored competitions will be the Webb Restaurant women’s pairs on Friday, March 7, catering thanks to Julia Keppler and Jaye Russell, and The Chill Grill mixed trips on Wednesday March 12, catering thanks to Ray Elders.

MARGATE CC
THE Shelly Beach SuperSpar’s mixed trips at MCC, held last Tuesday, was won by Rassie Erasmus, Chrissie Chancellor and Chris Abram on 4 + 10.
Second place went to Eileen Lloyd and Fred Deakin. The session prize went to Tys Pringle, Chris Faber and Marthie Pringle with a score of 2 + 5.
The 50/50 draw was won by Clive Edmundson. The next mixed trips will be played on March 25.
Chris Abram and Yvonne van Mentz have been invited to attend the Bowls South Africa mixed pairs competition to be held at Bethlehem this year.
The social bowls planned for Sunday, March 16 has been moved to Sunday, March 30, so as not to clash with Nomads.
Will all members note that there is a special Saturday tabs planned for March 15, as the club is hosting the ‘ex professional soccer’ players from upcountry.
This will include a special breakfast, morning tabs and lunch. Please check the club notice board for details and a list for booking meals.
The visitors come with a reputation for fine bowls while enjoying themselves.

CRISS Cross open trips was won by Chris Faber, Thys and Marthie Pringle; runners-up Malcolm Milne, Nico Mantoan and Trebla Lansdell.
Session winners were Alfred Shusha, Philip Lotter and Lorraine Wijtman; Heather Roberts, Wynand Bezuidenhout and Viv Date. The 50/50 was won by Nelia Reid.
Once again the Tiago’s 2-4-2 was closely contested with Chris Faber and Steve Evans winning from Lorraine Cook and Lorraine Wijtman, Hans Wijtman and Julie Moorley and Graham Fisher and Bonny Hills.
Congratulations to Neville Holmes, who played well in the KBA senior singles getting through to the finals.
The next quiz is scheduled for Friday, March 14 at 6pm for fish and chips and 6.30pm for the quiz.

HIBBERDENE
IN the nominated mixed trips played last Friday afternoon Keith Mills, Felicity van Rensburg and Paul Grutter were the overall winners.
Second prize was won by Arthur Seager, Miriam Seager and Joey Venter.
Session prize was awarded to Jan Venter, Colleen Milne and Des Niemandt. A big thank you to Chris Shone from Harcourts Scott Bay Real Estates for the sponsorship.
The club played host to the first round of the KBA women’s senior singles.
Eighteen women commenced at 8.30am in cloudy and, at times, rainy weather.
Then it became so hot, one had to feel the discomfort being experienced by these players. Excellent bowls was observed by the spectators.
From Hibberdene club Arthur Seager won his section but was knocked out on Sunday.
The mixed trips sponsored by Hibberdene SuperSpar takes place tomorrow (Friday 7th) at 2pm.
It was good to see our vice-president at the green.
He has spent a few days in Life Entabeni Hospital for tests. He did not explain how his blood pressure was after enjoying the company of all the nurses and sisters.
