Dust, sweat and gears

The first round of the 2014 national rally championship, the Tour Natal starts this weekend.

DUST, narrow roads, tight corners, limited visibility, high speeds … all in a day’s work for the Volkswagen Sasolracing rally team when they tackle round one of the South African National Rally Championship in KwaZulu-Natal.

The event on Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15, is the Tour Natal, a rally that marks the start of the 2014 season.

Round one will cover 195 km over 14 stages in the two days of the event – a rally known for being extremely tough on both man and machine.

The rally will start from the Scottburgh Country Club on Friday and rally fans can meet the teams before they leave for the first stage from midday.

There are numerous spectator points around the many stages of the tour, such as Esperanza just off the R612 and at Ellingham off the R102.
