Rain affects play at Margate

THE women’s competition last Tuesday was rained off, as was the Wobblers’ alliance the following day.
The pro shop comp last Thursday saw Angus McLachlan clean up on 41 points, followed by Ronnie Mtshaka on 39 points.
Sandi Johnston was third on 38 points. Nearest the pin on the 16th, sponsored by Hibiscus Retirement Villages, was Chris Nel.
The Friday business day, sponsored by Giorgio Express and Margate pro shop, was played as two to count and three on the par threes.
In first place were Johan Erasmus, Marius Visser, Barry Oehme and Johan Neethling on 108 points.
Runners-up were Carl O’Hanlon, Piet Lombard, Christo Esterhuizen and Jaco van der Walt on 104 points, who counted out Rolf and Agnes Spielmann, Mike and Anne Williams.
Nearest the pins were Wayne Minnaar (2nd) and Freddie Boshoff (16th).
The monthly medal was played last Saturday.
Patrick Mavundla won the A division on nett 67, with Jim Finn next on nett 71.
Barry Oehme won the B division on nett 70, by two from Johan Stoltz.
In the C division, Mike Bond had nett 66 to ease to victory three clear of David de Villiers.
The Sunday mixed, sponsored by Shelley SuperSpar, was won by Keith Duncalf, Rina Rito, Jannie and Ada Brits, on 89 points.
In second place were Rolf and Agnes Spielmann, Colin and Beryl Williamson, on 87 points.
They were followed by Doug and Sandi Johnston, Rob and Connie MacArthur, on 85 points.

Good scores at Southbroom

THE alliance at Southbroom Golf Club last Saturday was won by Jonathan Shaw, Bruce Matthew, Roger Phillips and George Haswell on 96 points.
In second place were Chris Miller, Stan Date, Des Wichmann and Jim Cook on 90 points.
They were followed by Tilly Nel, Terry Dore, Andy Lang and A Dore on 89 points.
The women’s section was won by Heather Anderson, Sophie Peridon, Geraldine Treherne and Margi Bonini on 94 points.
There was a threeway tie on 85 points, shared by Janet Humphrey, Marion Padrutt, Alexandra Huber and Gertrude Kok; Mari Fielden, Lan Yeadon, Sandra Luus and Jeanette Peyios, as well as Joy Crutchfield, Jeanne Powell, Eileen Neilson and Irene Schanda.
Sophie Peridon won the Wednesday comp on 20 points. It was shortened to nine holes as the heavens opened. Janice Lang had 16 points.

Green with envy at Sheppie

TREVOR Green won the individual Stableford at Port Shepstone Country Club last Wednesday. He carded 35 points to win by two from Dave Mee.
The St Martin de Porres golf day was held last Saturday, with some fantastic scoring taking place.
Four pairs had 49 points, with the countout favouring Rajen Naidoo and Ganes Munsami.
In second place were Fanie Kuhn and Christo Janse van Vuuren.
Leon Reeders and Phil Myburgh were third and Ronnie Mtshaka and Koko Zithumane fourth.
The monthly business day will be held this Friday, followed by the Rhema Church Golf Day this Saturday.

THE second Pro-Vision monthly mug will take place at Margate Country Club this Sunday, with tee off times from 8am.
Players are reminded to be at the club by 7.30am for the draw to be done.
