Top trail runners to compete
Some of the country's elite athletes have already entered for the big race.
THIS year’s Ingeli Skymarathon has been selected as a qualifying race for any athlete hoping to make it into the South African trail team.
This is exciting news for the South Coast, as many elite athletes will be entering the big race on Saturday, April 5.
The main event of the day is the Ingeli Skymarathon which is a 42 kilometre course through the Ingeli mountain range with 2100 metres of vertical gain, making it one of the toughest races in KwaZulu-Natal of this distance.
Race organisers are expecting a field of over 200 trail runners, with some of South Africa’s legendary and elite athletes taking part.
So far, the following top men athletes have already entered, Iain Don Wauchope, Lucky Miya, Prodigal Khumalo, Jock Green and Andrew Hagen, along with Tracey Zunckel in the women’s elite trail field.
If you are not ready to tackle a 42 kilometre race, why not enter either the 20 kilometre forest and mountain challenge, or the 12 kilometre or five kilometre forest trail.
Bring your picnic blanket. There will be food on sale and a fun children’s area with a jumping castle and loads of entertainment.
