DMCC Colts through to final
The second semi-final between PSCC and DMCC Old Boys has been postponed to Sunday, March 23.
SOUTHERN KwaZulu-Natal XI travelled to Empangeni on Saturday to face Uthangulu at Addison Park in the 20/20 league. SKZN were put in to bat and battled to 87 all out.
Uthangulu passed the total in the 17th over losing four wickets in the process. Yugeshan Pillay made it difficult for the batsmen with some mature bowling from the youngster, picking up two for only nine runs in four overs.SKZN lost by six wickets.
On Sunday SKZN XI hosted Chatsworth Sporting at PSCC. SKZN elected to bat first and again battled on a slow
pitch and even slower outfield, scratching up 89 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Morne Bishop top-scored with 36 not out.
Chatsworth Sporting batsmen took a measured approach with good running between the wickets and passed the score in the 17th over with two wickets down. SKZN XI lost by eight wickets.
In local cricket the Knights were hosted by the DMCC Colts for the first semi-final of the knockouts. The Colts won the toss and elected to bat first.
Russell Hughes anchored the innings and top-scored with 59 runs, Juandre Koekemoer and Dirkie Botes assisted with 22 and 31 runs respectively, setting a target of 193 runs. Usman Moosa bowled really well for the visitors claiming five wickets for 43 runs in 10 overs.
In reply the Knights started well. However, the wheels came off and they slumped to 113 all out. Juandre Koekemoer,
reverting to seam bowling, picked up four wickets for 25 runs, leaving the spinning to the more seasoned pro Dale Potgieter, who cleaned up the tail taking three wickets for one run in two overs.
DMCC Colts won by 80 runs to progress to the final.
The second semi-final between PSCC and DMCC Old Boys was postponed and will be played at DMCC on Sunday, March 23, with the final to be played on Sunday, March 30.
