Julius Malema to ‘consult’ for Sharks

IN a move to bolster the spirit at The Sharks and drive towards a first ever Super 15 title, coach Jake Whyte and CEO John Schmit have called on Julius Malema, the leader of the EFF, to bring some fresh insight.

The Sharks CEO confirmed that Malema would address the team the night before the home games. He will also give the crowd a short address before the start of the game, but talk will be restricted to rugby only.

“Look, we understand it’s a controversial move, but you can’t deny that JuJu has the ability to buck the trend, bring people together, and sometimes produce surprising results,” said Schmit.

“What people may not realise is that Julius did things differently, even as a kid. He was the first one to try rugby when others were playing soccer. He was quite a useful prop forward it has to be said.,” said Schmit.

Whyte echoed his sentiments. “We feel this could just add that something extra, similar to what Australian Eddie Jones did for the Springboks at the 2007 World Cup,” he said.

“We’re hoping he’ll address some backline issues, where communication between the left and right wings hasn’t been great,” said Whyte.

Mboykieseni Ndlozi, a spokesman for the EFF, said that the party was aiming to gain a foothold in KwaZulu-Natal, where Jacob Zuma has had fanatical support. “We need to embrace what was previously considered a white sport, in the spirit of brotherhood,” he said.

The only change for Sharks fans is that they will be required to wear a small EFF sticker on their shirts at the game. “Otherwise Mr Malema will be happy to provide inspiration and insight for free,” said the spokesman. These stickers will be handed out gratis at the stadium.
