THE fifth annual Thunder Tour Ultimate Road Show will finish in Margate this Saturday, August 9.
The Thunder Tour is based on the principal of the Power Tour in the United States where muscle cars, hot rods, street cars and super cars travel through different states and cover about 1500 miles.
The South African version will cover four provinces and 1500km.
The aim is to create a safe environment for the owners of these special cars in South Africa to drive and enjoy their cars, tour with their families and see the beautiful country as well as having fun together.
This is not a car club, it is merely a family of car lovers who mingle with different car enthusiasts.
The participants enjoy each other’s cars, experiences and share their unique car stories.
It is a fun event that encourages the involvement of the whole family and is open to everyone with these types of cars.
The Thunder Tour visits small towns on a specific route, to show their cars to people who don’t often have the opportunity of seeing these types of cars in real life unless they travel to big car shows in the main cities in South Africa.
The public interacts with the enthusiastic owners who are often the builder or restorer of the car.
The tour will depart from Pretoria on August 3 and travel to Margate via Welkom, Bloemfontein, Clarens and Illovo.
When in Margate, there will be a final show and shine on Panorama Parade, followed by a prize-giving dinner at Margate Hotel this Saturday night.
Itinerary:
August 7 – Visit Pit Stop in Banana Beach. Check in at Margate Hotel.
August 8 – Show at St Martin de Porres grounds, 8am to 10am (time to be confirmed). Hosted by Auto Zone.
August 9 – Pistol’s Saloon in Ramsgate, from 9am to 11am. Final show in Margate (Harley Street/Panorama Parade) from 12pm to 5pm.
