Tennis courts are busy in Tweni

IT WAS great to have five courts occupied at the Tweni Tennis Club last Wednesday and Saturday.

When two young brothers from upcountry visited the club last week to practise for a ranking tournament to be held in Westville, everyone stood in awe of their prowess on the court.

One brother is on a scholarship at Michigan University and the other will be playing in the U18 section of the tournament.

Thanks to Chloe Dutton for bringing delicious crunchies and other munchies for tea and for doing such a sterling job arranging the sets.

Members are encouraged to enter the Veterans’ Tournament, which will be held at the Uvongo Tennis Club in July. Details can be found on the club notice board.

Members were pleased to hear that Ronnie Badenhorst is out of hospital and wish him a speedy recovery. Pam Grobler has been out of action for a while with a leg problem and is also wished well.

Visitors are most welcome to join social tennis on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, but must pay visitors’ fees to the person on duty before going on to the court.

Tennis starts at about 2pm and ends when light (or exhaustion) stops play.
