Family fishing day loads of fun
Anglers took advantage of the lovely cool, generally overcast conditions.
THE perfect weather saw about 50 fishermen, both young and old, entering the fishing competition at Lake Eland, in conjunction with the Old Apostolic Church. The response was amazing, people were very generous and the organisers are over the moon.
One of the organisers, Jaco van Biljon, said that arranging an event like this takes teamwork and, as such, there were so many people who contributed in so many different ways. “We are deeply grateful,” he added.

“As this was a tough competition, anglers had to have their game plan together in order to win some grand prizes such as a television, a two-night stay at Lake Eland Game Reserve, a rod and reel, hampers and tickets to the game reserve’s zip line.”

Winners in their respective categories included Shaun Ferreira (biggest bass – adults) and Jean Thirry (biggest barbel – adults) The biggest bass in the under-12 division was landed by Vian Senekal. The winner for the biggest barbel in the under-12 division was Christopher Human.
