Strong start for cricketers

Next game is against Topham away this Sunday (20th).

Matt Redinger played a leading role with bat and ball for the Southern KwaZulu-Natal cricket team in their convincing nine wicket win over Verulam at Port Shepstone Country Club last Sunday.

Verulam batted first and were all out for 120, accumulating runs very slowly, struggling to get the spinners away, but nearly batting out their 50 overs.

Redinger took 3-19 to lend fast bowling support to Sahal Mansur, who grabbed 4-16 in 8.4 overs.

Gershion Lawrence took 2-18 in 10 overs and Raja Kazi 1-26 in his 10 overs.

Sajid Tai went wicketless but was superbly economical, conceding only 11 runs in his 10 overs.

In reply, Redinger cracked a quick 63 before being bowled 19 runs short of the target.

Morné Bishop made 53 not out and Alviro Nadasen 4 not out.

The team will be without Redinger’s services now as he leaves for Johannesburg soon to take up a job there.

Next game is against Topham away this Sunday (20th).
