Athlete Mthokozisi aces marathon

The club was represented by 39 runners in both the 21.1km and 42.2km races.

Ugu Athletics Club took part in a Pietermaritzburg marathon last Sunday.

As a qualifying race Comrades marathon and one of the most popular races in KZN, it attracts runners from all over the country.

The club was represented by 39 runners in both the 21.1km and 42.2km races.

Athletes performed excellently and all but four athletes, who were injured, completed their respective races.

The fastest in the 42.2km was Mthokozisi Cele with a finishing time of 2:45.

Most runners complained about humidity, especially those who finished late.

Another factor that affected runners was low fitness levels.
