Tweni Tennis club salutes Chloe
She was thrilled to have her name unveiled on the Honours Board as Honorary Life Member.
A most enjoyable evening of chit-chat and banter was enjoyed by all who were able to attend Chloe Dutton’s farewell party at Tweni Tennis Club last Saturday.
Chloe was thrilled to have her name unveiled on the Honours Board as Honorary Life Member. Members look forward to seeing her on the courts whenever she visits South Africa (hopefully often) – and wish her well in Spain. Grateful thanks to those who got the fire going and for braaiing, as well as to those who provided salads, breads and dessert – no-one left hungry.

It was really good to see Hugh and Val Beckett, who were also stalwarts of the club in their day.
Despicable heat is the only way to describe the weather last Saturday, but tennis went on as usual – or perhaps not. The club’s chairman and vice-chairman were spotted shirtless during a set on court six – hopefully it made them feel a little cooler. Some members were really envious that they could not do the same.
Visitors Beryl Bazley, Mahommed Choudhary and Nick du Preez joined members and four courts were occupied for most of the afternoon, as everyone needed a breather in between sets.
It’s really heartening to see younger folk coming into the club.
Visitors are very welcome for social tennis on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons from about 1.45pm onwards.
Saturday duty – March 2: Helgaard du Preez; March 9: Jean Marx
