Pool players prepare for nationals

THE president of the KwaZulu-Natal 8-Ball Pool Federation, Keegan Reddy, has congratulated various players from the Ugu district on their recent performances, at local, provincial and international level.

Clifford Keys represented South Africa at the World 8-Ball Pool Championships in England last year, while Yadesh Maharaj took part in a recent seniors champs in Morocco.

Daya Moodley, regarded as one of the most exciting talents on the scene, represented SA at the All Africa Games and reached the semi-finals.

KZN Pool Federation tournaments have been a huge success with the season ending recently.

Luckys Sports was thanked for sponsorships, especially of the KZN Manhattan 5-man competition.

RESULTS

Open knockout: 1 Kuben Govender; 2 Ravi Kistensamy. Semi-finals – Denver Mariemuthu and Neville Naidoo.

Masters singles: 1 Selvin Moodley; 2 Zain Khan. Semi-finals – Roy Govender and Riaz Ibrahim.

Seniors: 1 Yadesh Maharaj; 2 Kamalsen Naidoo. Semi-finals – Keegan Reddy and Daya Moodley.

Open Scotch Doubles: 1 Ravi Kistensamy and Daya Moodley; 2 Sarveshan Moodley and Denver Mariemuthu.

Seniors/Masters Scotch Doubles: 1 Yadesh Maharaj and Ajeev DurgapersadMahdeo; 2 Roy Govender and Vinnie .

The South African 8-Ball Pool champs will be in Saldhana Bay in the Cape, starting on April 19.

Various players from the Ugu region are taking part, including masters, seniors and even some referees.
