Pro Deo NPO receives welcome boost from South Coasters

Dedicated people make it possible for Pro Deo to supply the necessary care the elderly require.

The Pro Deo’s golf day, 5km fun run and 9.7km MTB trail ride at San Lameer last week Saturday was well supported.

Pro Deo is an inter-church non-profit organisation consisting of a group of volunteers delivering a service of love to the South Coast community by caring for the sick and elderly who cannot afford medical aid. The organisation’s chairman Eloise van Niekerk told the Herald that, due to the commitment and support of the Margate Round Table, San Lameer and all the wonderful sponsors, the proceeds from this annual event go a long way towards assisting the Pro Deo Care Group to provide a much-needed service.

She added that with the deterioration in medical care and pension funds, home care as an organised activity has become a necessity.

“Unfortunately funds are limited and it is only dedicated people, such as our caring golfers, runners and cyclists, who make it possible for the volunteers to supply the necessary care that the elderly and sick require,” she said.

Ms van Niekerk said that the Pro Deo Care Group is extremely grateful to all those who contributed to the success of this annual fundraiser.
