Try feast for Warriors

The Warriors seem to be getting stronger as the season progresses.

The Riversmead South Coast Warriors kept their first division league aspirations on track with a huge 101-0 win over Pietermaritzburg Collegians at Douglas Mitchell Sports Ground last Saturday.

Collegians are bottom of the log and the Warriors made the most of a point collecting expedition.

Player-coach Juan van der Berg asked for a fast-paced game and was pleased that the team managed to get it right in such emphatic fashion.

Johan Gericke scored four tries and van der Berg added three of his own.

The margin could have been higher if more of the conversions had been landed but in games like these it seems the players are more interested in dotting down.

Other tries were scored by Graeme Bester, Arnold Kruger (2), Chris Mitchell, Lunga Madlala, with the bench adding a further three.

Dylan Kroon and Darren Nyman converted the tries.

One of the highlights of the game was when hooker Jacques Coetzee scored a try and then converted it.

Players of the match were Patrick Chappel (forwards) and Johan Gericke (backline). The half-time score was 55-0.

The second team won their game 36-14.

Coach Tian Gericke played the first half, giving the players some confidence and guidance.
