Ms Christiansen said in addition to tennis players from her development programme, sponsored by KZN tennis the event attracted entries from Pietermaritzburg, Durban, Harding. The weather played along and was perfect for the tournament.

“I catered for singles on Friday and doubles on Saturday. A total of 245 matches were played,” she added.

Ms Christiansen said the tournament had become an annual community event, generously sponsored by local businesses, especially Dion Moonsamy from Abingdon Spar.

“This year they outdid themselves by providing branded t-shirts, making everyone who entered a ‘winner’, no matter the results. Many individuals also contributed to making the occasion a great success and Pro Tennis would like to thank them all for their support,” she said.
