Upper South Coast bowls: Brilliant week for Bob
News and results from Upper South Coast bowling clubs.
Jerry Davey does it again
VISITORS made a clean sweep of the prizes in the men’s trips competition – Scottburgh’s Ian Stockton, Erik Holm and Jan Vosloo winning second session prize scoring 2+14; Mike Stirling, George Lottery and Paul Rabe won runners-up prize one shot short of overall winners from AMBC, Kevin O’Donoghue, Tony Hoggins and Dave Coward who finished on 4+15.

A big thank you to sponsors Scottfin Insurance Brokers, Atlanta Spur and Enzo’s.
The women’s trips was convincingly won by Gina George, Viv Hollander and Sandy O’Donoghue on 4+25; 4+15 won runners-up prize for Moira Millard, Pam Lyon and Jean Munro; second session winners Jenny Wadeley, Amelia van Vuuren and Clair Wilhelm scored 2+6.
Last Saturday Jerry Davey and Chris Geyer represented Sezela in the round robin stages of the KBA men’s singles.
Unfortunately neither player was able to progress through to the playoffs.
In fact Jerry was on the wrong end of a serious hiding from a Riverside youngster 21-2.
Jerry reported he did not play that badly but on the day could not match the young player’s skills.
The very next day Jerry and Chris contested the final of the Sezela men’s singles club championship.
Defending champion Jerry brought his A game to the green and in a merciless display of accurate bowling defeated the unfortunate Chris 21-0 in only 10 ends.
Well done to Jerry who has been single champion five times in the last eight years.
Maybe Sezela should recruit the young player from Riverside to topple him.
Avril Black was in top form when partnering Mally Swanby to beat Moira Millard and Dave Billet in a club mixed pairs match.
Dave Lyon and Rod Black go through to the semi-finals of the men’s pairs after beating Ian MacKenzie and Roger Lane 21-18.
Members are reminded to bring in items for Helen and Liz’s August Tournament table and goodies for the hamper draw.

The second session winners with 2+12 were Brian Knight, Fanie Vosloo and Eleanor Walsh and they won vouchers from Scottburgh Motors ‘Shop on Scott’.
The runners-up this month were the side of Liesje de Rosner, Gina George and Fred Hutchins from AMBC, with 4+15 and they were awarded vouchers for Scott Street Pharmacy.
The winning side was Bill Mason, Anne Jenkins and Tony Marot with a score of 4+20 and they won vouchers for Scottburgh Country Club.
