The water temperature remains cold but not as icy as before, and it looks as though the sards have now officially… left the building.

MORNING low tides over the past week resulted in quite a few sandbanks so those who decided to try their luck had to be patient before making their way to the backline.

When there are low tides, fishing can be a bit challenging because when the water isn’t moving, fish hardly feed and most of them bury themselves in the sand.

A handful of boats saw some tuna action in the mid-South Coast area, but shore fishermen had a bit of struggle to get some good catches because of the low tides.

On the plus side, there has been a lot of whale activity, so the whale-watchers definitely had a treat this week.

Those fishing at Rocky Bay caught some nice-sized shad.
