Herald fishing: Kob, shad and garrick dominate
Lots of shad is being caught off Margate Pier and at Orange Rocks in Uvongo.
The rock and surf scene has been dominated by three main species, namely kob, shad and garrick, which are primary targets at this time of year.
Shad are loose at most of the usual spots and an early morning spent with a light rod and a gold spoon should see you get your quota.

Lots of shad are being caught off Margate Pier and at Orange Rocks in Uvongo.
Shad can be used for live bait and a few of these have been picked up by garrick.
The rest of the South Coast has seen some kob action around river mouths and most of these have fallen for fleshy sardine bait.
There has been reports of a couple bronze bream still on the bite.
Offshore fishing has been a case of hit or miss over the past few weeks.
Bottom fishing has made up for the absence of game fish, but nothing can beat a screaming reel.
Game fish have not been as prevalent as they have been in previous weeks, but there has been enough to keep us coming back.
Please remember to leave the areas that you fish in a better condition than when you got there. Take a few moments to pick up some litter and drop it in the nearest bin.
