FISHING on the mid-South Coast over the weekend was was rather interesting thanks to all the sudden weather changes.
On Saturday there were some seriously strong gale force winds blowing while on Sunday, the sun was out and the sea was beautiful and flat – perfect for fishing.

Some good catches were recorded last week, with those throwing a line at Sezela having no trouble at all reeling in some garrick.
Scottburgh anglers were in luck too, with one landing a nice-sized garrick at the pier near the Scottburgh beach swimming pools.

A couple of little Fransmadam were also hooked from the piers.
These fish mainly feed on worms, small crabs, seaweed and red bait. Fransmadam ( loosely translated as ‘French mistress’) are usually found in rocky areas, in water up to 35 metres deep.
They have bronze-coloured bodies, while the juveniles are bright orange.

For the kayak fishermen, there was some excitement when one managed to catch three tuna from the back line off Park Rynie.
There was also a lot of whale and porpoise activity at Park Rynie and Preston beaches.
