Rare distinction for golfer Dave

There is a better Stableford this coming Wednesday, followed by the P & G Construction monthly competition this Saturday.

SO, according to the news the ‘Kaapies’ are going to fine people for swearing and cussing on the beaches.

They may be better off patrolling the golf courses where they’ll be sure to make more revenue.

Bit of a breeze, but nothing as serious as the 81 points scored by Barry Kisten, John Mills and Brian Richards showed.

Just two points further back, Colin Moodie rallied his troops of Geoff Thommasen and fresh from the state of South Carolina, Mike Eley, with 79.

Only two 2-clubs were scored, by Barry Kisten and Tony Power, with the hidden holes taking a break.

Julia van Zyl scored 19 points to win the Friday afternoon Chicken run which is becoming more popular now that spring is on the way.

It was Halfway Toyota monthly medal time for the men and some good scores were recorded.

In the A-division Flinky Dreyer scored a 71 for the gross and Alan Eriksen won the nett on 70 despite a three-way countout.

B-division visitor Leon Brumer took the best gross with his 79 and with a nett 67 John Mills took the nett prize.

C-division played Stableford and there was a real ding-dong battle between Gary Jones and Herman Grotius which saw Herman emerge victorious, winning with 39 points on a countout to take not only the first prize but also the medal as his 39 converted back to a 65 nett.

The same pair, helped along by Coenie du Bruin and Dave Meredith, claimed the alliance with 89 points.

Dave had the rare distinction of not only being on the winning team but also had the fewest individual points to lift the Stone.
