Flying the South African flag high

For Jessie fourth place at SAs was an extremely respectable achievement.

TWO South Coast athletes will be heading abroad soon to represent South Africa in bodybuilding.

Bodybuilders Thandazane Ntsimbi (25) of Ramsgate, Mandisi Majova (23) of Port Edward, and fitness model Jessie Toweel (47) of Uvongo recently competed and excelled at the IFBB South African Bodybuilding Championships in Gauteng.

Thandazane won the senior men’s light middleweight 80kgs division and will now head off to Dubai in November, while Mandisi won the junior men’s 0/23 bodybuilding u/75kg division, and will fly to Spain. Jessie secured a fourth spot in the highly competitive show.

It is Thandazane first year to compete, and it’s been an extremely successful year, with him being fortunate to win all three of the competitions he entered (including one overall). Now, he will jet off to Dubai to compete for a ‘pro-card’.

Personal trainer at Superbodies Margate Thandazane Ntsimbi brings home gold.

“I have been wanting to do this for so long. It’s my first year competing, and I didn’t expect to win provincials. I am proud of myself,” he said, smiling.

Thandazane grew-up in Bhoboyi and has loved sport since childhood. He has been actively involved in soccer, even coaching a Gamalakhe soccer team called Arsenal.

Mandisi has been competing since 2015, and his hard work has certainly paid off, as he has achieved first place in every competition he entered over the years.

Personal trainer Jessie Toweel from Superbodies Port Shepstone placed fourth in the competition.

He is very excited to represent South Africa in Spain.

“I had fun at provincials. This has been something I’ve have been waiting for a very long time,” he added, thanking his friends in Bizana for all their support.

Both men are looking for financial assistance to help pay for their trip overseas.

Fitness model Jessie Toweel (47) of Uvongo has been competing in the body fitness division at the IFBB since 2016.

Personal trainer Mandisi Majova of Wild Coast Fitness Centre placed first in the competition.

For Jessie fourth place at SAs was an extremely respectable achievement.

“I hold myself to a very high standard, so I am slightly disappointed in the result as my aim was a top three. From here, we will work on my weak points being my glutes, lats and tighten up my midsection,” she said.

Jessie said she will hit the stage again next year, with an improved physique, but might try out another federation to see if her physique fits better into a division they have on offer.
