Good turnout for chicken run
I see my mentor has not lost his touch and methinks he may be looking towards the comeback trail.

Scottburgh golf club
THANKS to 'One Over' for stepping in last week as yours truly was 'man down'. I see my mentor has not lost his touch and methinks he may be looking towards the comeback trail.
Frikkie Mynhardt down from Suspension City sponsored the Wednesday Individual Stableford competition. Dave Sirey came to the 'fore' with 33 points the same as second placed Brian Richards who is also never far from the podium.Cap'n Bob Hall was third with 31 and Roly Tickle got the final spot with 30 on a very windswept afternoon. Denis Brown had the only 2 club and Mick Marriot on the nearest to the pin.
There was a very good turnout for Friday's Chicken run as the club hosted a rugby and brunch social. Winning Mrs Hall's prize was no other than her better half Bob who I'm sure will be sponsoring next weeks competition.
And so to Saturday where the ladies and gents did battle for the Halfway Toyota Park Rynie monthly medal.
For the ladies Pathma Moodley returned a nett 70 to easily win by 4 over Lauren Davey with Mandy Jones coming in third, Hayley Gilliver on a family day out had the fewest putts on the green. I wonder why the men never play this-maybe the ladies would laugh at their scores. Four of the ladies section are involved in the Lewis Reymolds trophy this weekend but more of that next week.
It was good to see father and son Pete and Jason Gilliver in competition against one another on Saturday. Apart from the medal they had a competitive side bet to see who was tops. It turned out that Jason made his mark against Dad as he not only won the side bet but shot a flat round of 67 to win the A-division gross and took the medal with nett 70 with Pete taking the nett on 72.
In the B-division it was B for Bob as the captain won the best gross with 82 John Mills had the best nett with 71 won on a 4-way count out. Hans Beuthe is never far away when it comes to individual games and so it was as he won the C-division with 35 points counting out the unfortunate Graham Brown. The Alliance team of Russel Freeman, Denis Brown, Tony Moore and Willie Creaney stepped up for their rewards with Dave Sirey and One over sharing the hidden holes with Jason recording the only 2 club.
It took much cajoling from the members but eventually Bob had to announce the winners of Stone Last. It was himself, vice captain Hilton, Frikkie Mynhardt and One Over, to much cheering and remarks not for this column.
Wednesdays competititon is a Betterball bonus bogey and on Saturday a four ball Alliance. We're looking to put two teams in the Inter Club tournament and also for sponsors so please do your best in both respects.
Flyers footnote; I have mastered two strokes in golf, the practice swing and the conceded putt, the rest I'm working on.
