Calculators required at birthday bash

The Joker Draw is hotting up and is now worth R7000.

FOUR of our ladies played in the Lewis Reynolds trophy last week and finished a respectable four points behind winners, Southbroom Golf Club.

The ladies had their birthday bash last Saturday, played as a multiplier on the par four and fives, and one score on the par threes.

It must have taken some working out and winning on a score of 54 points were Hayley Gilliver and Mandy Jones, 13 points ahead of second placed Pathma Moodley and Delores McAuliffe on 41.

Lady Captain Linda Hall celebrated her birthday on Sunday and was presented with a flowering orchid. A few drinks afterwards and the ladies left in good spirits.

The men played a friendly fourball alliance in a bit of a breeze. ‘Never known to knock’ Brian Richards and Graham Brown, with new partners Russel Freeman and Pete Gilliver, stole the show with 83 points.

Lingering just three behind were John Mills, Barry Kisten, Doc Mahabeer and Mick Marriot courtesy of the countout and thanks to Mick’s four-pointer on the eighteenth.

Doc and Graham Brown somehow found the hidden holes and Shaun Jenkins had the only 2-club.

After taking September by storm Nick Wattrus is having to pick up the Stone of late, this week it was with Gary Jones, Hans Beuthe and Mike Hogan.

Dave Meredith is an ardent Sunderland supporter (I suppose someone has to support them) and Bob on Saturday presented him with a genuine club shirt.

I wonder if this is the only one in KZN or maybe the Republic? Never mind Dave, I’m sure one day they’ll get promoted.

On Wednesday it’s a betterball Stableford and on Saturday an individual Stableford.

The Joker Draw is hotting up and approaching the R7000 mark. And for just R5 it could all be yours on Friday evening and just in time for Christmas.

The sheets are open all week so remember ‘if you don’t have a rod in you can’t catch anything’.
