Chad’s cricket career remains on track

In one match Chad achieved a milestone by hitting six sixes in an over.

Chad Laycock (16) recently returned from Ireland, where he enjoyed being part of the Ireland Cricket exchange programme.

The grade 10 boarder at Glenwood High in Durban made an impact with both the bat and ball.

He had a wonderfully successful tour playing for the Railway Unions Cricket Club men’s 1st XI.

Chad played in all the games while there for the National Cup championship but unfortunately had to leave to return to South Africa after the semi-final which they won.

Railway Union did win the final in the end.

While there he appeared in several articles in the sporting news and played along numerous professionals, including Irish national player Kevin O’Brien.

He even achieved man of the match in one game. He scored a total of 341 runs and took 18 wickets for the team.

When the team had no matches Chad played for the U17 team and the U19 team.

He batted extremely well and scored two centuries, one for each age group team.

In one match he achieved a milestone by hitting six sixes in an over.

He was extremely happy once he was home to receive a call congratulating him on the fact that he had been named best U17 and U19 player for the Railway Union Club.

Railway Union Cricket Club was so impressed by Chad’s performance it has invited him back next year.

Back home, he has made the KwaZulu-Natal U17 team which was announced recently.

He will play in the Cricket South Africa week in Port Elizabeth in December.
