‘Champion’ week despite the wet weather
The difficult conditions did not put off the players and some spectacular bowls was played.
THERE was some very welcome rain throughout much of this week and it did impact on the numbers of players on the greens.
However, the finals of the club championships for the drawn pairs title, both the ladies and the men’s category’s were the real bright spots of the week.

There were no monthly competitions this week at the club.
Early in the week the finals of both the men and the ladies drawn pairs were played, amid quite poor weather which saw at times periods of quite heavy rain.
The difficult conditions did not put off the players and some spectacular bowls was played.
Both the winning teams won 12 of the allotted ends which indicate that this was no ‘one-sided final’, and the battle went right down to the wire.
Eventual winners in the men’s section were Trevor Spring and Roger Bailey, with the runners-up being Pine Pienaar and Peter Parker-Dennison.

The ladies section winners were Lida Boltar and Diane Hayes from runners-up Martina Olivier and Eleanor Walsh.
Congratulations to all who played in this championship competition and despite the weather the spectators thoroughly enjoy a fine performance and demonstration of the skills of bowling.
Thanks go to Jan Vosloo for umpiring the finals.
Looking ahead into November month there is the men’s 2-4-2 this Thursday (14th), the mixed 2-4-2 this Friday (15th) and the ladies 2-4-2 on Wednesday, November 27.
The greens are undergoing the annual ‘spring treatment’ so the rain has come at the right time, but some disruption to normal play can be anticipated.
Please refer to the noticeboards for updates on the situation.
Any visiting bowlers are welcome to come and join in our normal ‘tabs-in’ games, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons or on Sunday morning.
