Rod Torque: Damaged egos, embarrassed drivers and huge disappointment
There's only one more race for the 2019 season.
Max Verstappen gave us a top of the tree performance at Sao Paulo last weekend for victory in the Brazilan Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton also drove the wheels off his Mercedes to finish second on the road, but got a five second penalty which dropped him five places to seventh position, due to his accident with Alexander Albon.

He knocked Albon off the track by trying to take a gap that really wasn’t there.
In another exciting but very damaging incident the two Ferraris took each other out when Sebastian Vettel tried to hold his position while Charles Leclerc was overtaking him.
Damaged egos, embarrassed drivers and huge disappointment for Ferrari was the consequence.
The result of all this damage and destruction was that behind the winning Verstappen were two new faces on the podium.
Pierre Gasly and Carlos Sainz who were second and third, just six and nine seconds behind the leader while Alfa Romeo achieved a great result with Kimi Raikkonen fourth and Antonio Giovinazzi fifth, also in close contention being only nine and 10 seconds from Verstappen.
Very close behind was Daniel Ricciardo in the Renault ahead of Hamilton while Lando Norris finished eighth in the other Mclaren.
Sergio Perez’s Racing Point and Daniil Kyvat took the last two point scoring positions in 9th and 10th respectively.
The Ferrari catastrophe was doubly disappointing for Charles Leclerc as he had fought his way up to the front of the grid and was in fourth place when he and Vettel collided with each other.
The pace car played a very important part in the roll of the dice and also resulted in the field being close together again for the final part of the race.
Both Verstappen and Hamilton also took advantage of the pace car to put new rubber on their boots and had a great scrap towards the end with the Dutchman getting the better of the Englishman!
The Autodromo Carlos Pace had given us without doubt the most dramatic and exciting race of the year and we now have but one race to go in Abu Dhabi on December 1 in a little over a week’s time.
I cannot wait to see who’s turn it is next but Max Verstappen now has eight Formula One wins under his belt.
