Recognition for champions after busy year

The club has had a very good year all round.

AMBC

PRIZE-GIVING, held last week, has concluded a busy year for the club.

Thanks to Glynnis Corbett and all those members who assisted with providing the eats.

The following awards were made, for women, men and mixed.

Most improved novice: Melanie Arnison and Dave Arnison.

Most improved: Louise Shone and Len Brickhill.

Novice singles: Ladies not played, Dave Coward.

Handicap singles: Helen Turk and James Goble.

Plate singles: Sandy Davis and Fred Hutchins.

Drawn pairs: Annatjie Kidd and Pam Grey; Tony Simpson and Keith Findlay; Mike Mordaunt and Barbara Henderson.

Nominated pairs: Liesje de Rosner and Helen Turk; Bob Elliott and Keith Harris; John Chamier and Marion Kelly.

Drawn mixed fours: Liesje de Rosner, Brian Navias, Joy Hansson and Alex Cameron. Marietjie van Wyk substituted Joy in the semi-finals.

Open singles: Liesje de Rosner and Len Brickhill.

Club member of the year: Alex Cameron and Len Brickhill (shared).

Tuesday’s men’s trips was cancelled due to the weather and this week sees the playing of the mixed trips.

The second round of the league took place on Saturday.

RESULTS

Ladies

1st League at AMBC: AMBC A got 5 points vs The Bell A and B. AMBC B got 0 points vs Margate A and Port Shepstone A

3rd League at The Bell: AMBC got 3 points vs Scottburgh and Banners Rest.

Men

1st League at Riverside: AMBC 5 Riverside 0

2nd League at the Bell: AMBC 0 The Bell 5

3rd League at The Bell: AMBC 2 The Bell C 3

This coming Saturday sees all three men’s league teams playing at home.

Members are encouraged to come along at 1.30pm to show their support.
