New squash champion for Douglas Mitchell

The matches were evenly contested and the level of squash fantastic.

Douglas Mitchell Squash Club’s championship came to a thrilling conclusion last Friday evening, with three out of the four matches on the night going to five games.

Daniel Guidi beat Greg Halstead to become club champion.

Plate winner was Roy Paterson who outran Graeme Milligan, who knows a thing or two about endurance sports.

The classic plate winner was Jayson Bolton over Joe Visagie.

Consolation plate went to David Morrison-Young who beat Kevin Wood.

The ladies champs was won by Renee Purtell who beat Su Jacobs.

This was the first time in a few years that the championships had a full field of members playing, 32 in the men plus six in the women.

The annual general meeting was held straight after the last match was played.

Chairman Milligan was pleased to report that membership was growing nicely.

He thanked all who attended.
