Redelinghuys on a winning streak at Margate CC

The busy week produced some solid scores.

It was a busy week at Margate Country Club, but unfortunately the windy conditions on Tuesday kept the ladies off the course.

However, it did not deter the Club 100 players and sharing first place in an IPS format was Chris Redelinghuys and Frik van Zyl with 37 points.

The Wobblers played a 3-ball alliance with 2 scores to count on all the holes, except for the par 3’s where all 3 scores counted.

The winners were Wayne Minnaar, Dolf Willemse and Frank Merrill on 91 points, followed by Eddie Gommersall, Wimpie Jordaan and Hans Dallinger in second place, on a count out with 80 points.

Losing the count out and coming third were Derek Egerton, Piet Pretorius and Rob McGill on 80 points.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Johan Hulshof, Freddie Boshoff and Alan Davies with 71 points.

The Thursday pro shop competition was played in an IPS format and won by an in-form Chris Redelinghuys on 41 points.

Second place went to our newest member Lance Howden with 40 points.

Chris Nel secured closest to the pins on both the 4th and 11th holes.

The Saturday club competition was played in a medal format for the A and B Divisions and an IPS format for the C Division.

The winner of the A Division was Ivan Curlewis with a 70 nett, followed by Sydney Shingange in second place with 71 nett.

Gary Smith secured a win in the B Division with 71 nett and Greg Litkie came second on a count out with 72 nett.

The C Division was won by Mike Downs with 35 points and Wayne Minnaar came second on 24 points.

Nearest to the pin on the 4th went to Peter McCarthy, while L Barnard was nearest to the pin on the 11th.

The ladies section played their KZNLGA Medal and Putt format which was kindly sponsored by the Margate Pro Shop.

Lizzie Meyer won the competition with a 71 nett and Maureen Ogilvie secured second place on 72 nett.

Winning the count out for third place was Margaret Taylor with 75 nett, while Lesley Erasmus secured fourth place, also on 75 nett. Maureen Ogilvie was the winner of the Putts with 29.
