Simoné sets new course
The move to Mossel Bay will see her live close to the golf course and will enable her to practice a lot more after school.
Junior golfer Simoné Ferreira (14) is looking forward to taking the next step in her golfing career when she becomes part of the Louis Oosthuizen 57 Academy in Mossel Bay next year.
Her family has recently moved to the area from the South Coast.

Her father Petrus, who has spent time working away in Africa, first identified her talent when she was just a preschooler.
He has done everything in his power to get – and keep – her progress in the sport on track.
Some years ago she enjoyed the trip of a lifetime to play in a Kids Golf tournament in the United States of America.
It was there that she realised just how high the standard is.

But instead of being put off, she was simply determined to work harder.
On the coast, she has benefited tremendously from being part of Mark McNulty’s Academy.
The legendary former Zimbabwean professional has supported Simoné to a large degree and the family is extremely grateful for his kindness.
Simoné hasn’t had things all her own way, sustaining a knee injury when trying a clever manoeuvre on a scooter belonging to one of her younger sisters.
The scooter was too small for her and she landed badly, hurting herself to the extent that she had to put all sport, including netball at school, on hold for a while.
But she’s back now, fully fit, and enjoying the game again.

While on the coast, she was a member at Port Shepstone Country Club and a pupil at Suid-Natal High (and Suid-Natal Primary before that).
She took part in various tournaments, including the African Junior Championships at San Lameer CC, where she won her age group four years in a row.
Simoné was also crowned B-division champion at Port Shepstone CC in 2018.
She went on to play in the Champions of Champions at Glendower CC in Johannesburg where she finished runner-up in her division.
Simoné was runner-up in the 2019 club champs and was also golfer of the year for 2019 at school.
The move to Mossel Bay will see her live close to the golf course and will enable her to practice a lot more after school.
Coaching sessions will be available on a weekly basis at Pinnacle Point and she will compete in junior events as well.
She will have the chance to rub shoulders with other promising juniors in the academy.
Her lowest round while on the coast was 78, with a two under for nine holes.
No doubt that will change, and may have already in the time she has been there, having finished her exams for the year.
There’s every chance she’ll return to coast in the future, especially for the African champs at San Lameer, which has become like a second home for her.
The family thanked all those who had supported and helped them while on the coast.
