Scottburgh bowlers tuck in to breakfast
Volunteers prepared a magnificent meal ahead of a game of bowls at the club.
‘WHERE it has gone’ was an expression heard by many at the end of 2019, in reference to how the year flew by.
In the last month of the year some 330mm of rain wad recorded which tended to dampen the festivities somewhat.

On December 16, the now traditional Ladies Breakfast was generally well attended as the volunteers (John Rochford, Dennis Nel, Bill Mason, Dave Montile, John Utley and Brian Dunderdale) prepared a magnificent meal ahead of a game of bowls at the club.
Good was the food and the association and the games of bowls were really fun, too.
Over the festive season there were many interruptions so only tabs-in games were played.
However, the weather has changed significantly and the greens are ‘hot’ in every way.
So, a piece of friendly advice to all members friends and visitors, please take great care when bowling in the next couple of months as temperatures are very unforgiving.
Do not think that ‘hot weather has never affected me before’ and that you are ‘man-enough’ for anything.
Heatstroke is not something that you should not take lightly.
Prepare by drinking much more fluids than normal plus supplements as your body loses important minerals and salts when being physically active in hot weather.
If feeling unwell then best not to continue because we all love you just the way you are, normal and healthy. So take care out there.
Wishing all our friends and players at the local clubs, and all our sponsors the very best for the New Year 2020 and may it be a good year for one and all.
Keep taking the grass.
THE WHITE J.
