Runners thrive on tricky trail track

As hosts of the event, Bushlife Adventures thanked all entrants and sponsors for making the event a success.

Despite the horrendous weather during the week leading up to the Umdoni trail run event late last year, there was a had a fair sized field for both races (8km and 12km).

The weather gods were kind on the day and all went smoothly.

Runners were faced with swollen river crossings, muddy single tracks and slippery surfaces as a result of the 230mm of rain received in the week before the race.

All competitors agreed that these elements added to the fun of the event and most finished with a big smile on their face despite the challenging route.

The winners in the 12km event (Julius de Clercq and Jodine Momberg) were crowned as the king and queen of Umdoni for 2019 respectively.
