January arrived and so, too did the members of Margate Country Club.
The Saturday club competition was played in a betterball Stableford format and was won by Arthur Ehlert and Gary Smith with a mere 41 points.

Frik van Zyl and Johann van Niekerk secured second place with 40 points on a countout.
Nearest the pins on the 2nd and 16th went to Gary Smith and Ernie Janse respectively.
Besides bad weather the Club 100 played their last game for 2019 and visitor Lucas Potgieter won the individual point scoring format with 38 points.
Second place went to Flip Fourie on 35 points.
The Wobblers got into the swing of things for 2020, playing an alliance with two scores to count.
Alan Davies, Hugh Ivan and Peter Hunter were victorious with 79 points, while Piet Pretorius, Freddie Boshoff and Hans Dallinger secured second place on 78 points.
Heavy rains the following day ensured the pro shop’s competition day was cancelled, but strong sunshine the following day saw a good turnout for the business day competition.
The format was an alliance with two scores to count and won by Hennie van der Berg, Piet Fourie, Jaco van der Wal and Heber de Beer with 90 points.
The team of Sydney Shingange, Jane Davies, Lexley Lewis and Connie McArthur came second on 86 points, on a countout.
A further count out on 86 points saw Carlos Pereira, Chris Redelinghuys, Mike Lee and Rob Weyer secure third place.
Nearest to the pin on the 4th hole went to Carlos Pereira and Heber de Beer on the 11th.
